Name: Akali
Alias: Shadow’s Princess
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Height: 5’ 4”
Weight: 110 lbs
DoB: April 10th
Village: Iwagakure
Chakra Nature: Earth
Rank: Jounin
Position: Former ANBU recruit
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Special Abilities: N/A
Fighting Style: Akali’s fighting style is very straight forward and simple. She doesn’t do anything special or out of the ordinary. She just punches and kicks like a normal ninja and does her best at trying to gain the higher ground. Every once in a while, she might throw in a tactical counter attack but she believes that this going overboard most of the time.
Strengths: Her biggest strength in fighting comes from her hand to hand combat. She excels in seeing the attacks of an opponent and takes advantage of those moments where she can place in a good solid punch. Though she does use her jutsu in combination with her taijutsu, she tends to be more a warrior who wishes to feel her fist connect with her opponents face.
Weaknesses: Her weakness in fighting comes from her attitude towards most fights. Akali was raised by a strong father who taught her to respect her opponent and hold to her word. Should an opponent wish to deceive Akali, she is not able to always see through it. Her pride also tends to get the better of her and even when she knows her opponent is deceiving her, she continues to respect her opponent and follow through with the initial terms of the battle.
Appearance: Akali has always been been one of the prettiest girls in all of Iwagakure. Standing at 5’4”, 110lbs with pale white skin, Akali is a very well developed (C – Cups) young woman who garners all the attention of the men around her. Normally, when she is off duty, she will dress in the most elegant of Kimonos. They range from beautiful blues to the pretty pinks she can find. Though most of the other kunoichi find her way of dressing strange, Akali has never cared about their opinions. It was true, most of clothing she wore does not suit in the case of battle but she is always prepared for that.
Each of her Kimonos has a detachable hem that allows them to split up the side. This allows for easier mobility during the times when a quick response is needed. She also carries on her at all times at least 1/3 of her normal ninja tools in different pouches attached to her thighs and wrists.
Personality: Since the time she was young, Akali has always been a sort of shy girl when it came to interactions with the people around her. However, when it came to training, Akali was as outgoing as her late father and just as prideful. Her mother detested the fact that her beautiful daughter used to fight with the young boys in the village but Akali didn’t really care. When she got into a brawl with one of the boys, she always set rules to the fight and those rules were always followed to the T. Even if the boys played dirty, which he noticed they did a lot, Akali stuck to her morals when fighting and did not sway.
As she has grown, her attitude has changed and she has grown out of her shyness. She does not hold herself any higher than the rest of the kunoichi in the village and she is very humble when it comes to comments on her beauty or ability. As she has moved through the ranks, her attitude seemed a 180 to that of her friends. While her friends began serious and continued to grow serious as they moved up in the ranks, Akali began as serious shinobi but has learned that a balance of fun with a hint of serious helped to keep things going as she moved up in rank.
History: From the day she stepped into the academy, the teachers of Iwagakure knew that Akali was going to be someone the village could be proud of. Hailing from a respected family household, Akali was always very attentive in both class and when she returned home. At school, she excelled at her studies and showed up most of the boys in the class. While at home, she listened attentively to her father and all he had to offer her including special training. While not training with her father, Akali would learn to cook and clean from her mother. Being a kunoichi herself, Akali’s mother knew that proper women knew not only how to cook but how to set up a kunai paper bomb trap with style. Being raised in this household, Akali believed that she would be happy for her entire life. It wasn’t long before this belief was crushed under the flames of battle.
It has been some time since the end of the Fourth Great War and there had been a time of peace that felt like it could never end. However, the morning before she graduated from the ninja academy, her father was supposed to return from an important mission he had been sent on. Akali had helped her mother make her father’s favorite pork buns the night before and she was sitting in the doorway of their house, waiting to see her father round the corner he had always come around. However, Akali felt something deep in her chest and there was suddenly a sharp pain. It felt as if someone had take a kunai and shoved it right through her heart.
Right as the plate in her hand slipped and fell towards the floor, an ANBU black ops ninja appeared and caught the plate in midair. Akali looked up at the fox mask looking down on her and she could tell that this person was from her father’s squad. She had seen the mask before and she knew this was the woman who had helped take care of her when her father and mother had been out on missions before. She had only become an ANBU member a few years ago but she was already going on Elite missions for the village. Seeing this woman drove the kunai in her heart even deeper and as she turned to run, Akali found herself in her mother’s arms.
Before she could stop them, the tears began to flow and the fox masked woman joined Akali and her mother in mourning. The woman spoke through her tears and said, “Sister, I’m so sorry. I could not save him from the attack. They came out of the shadows and he gave his life so I could return to you. He told me to give his daughter a message.” Akali could barely be consoled at the loss of her father but when she heard he had parting words for her, she swallowed the lump in her throat and listened to her aunt’s words.
“He told me to tell you that you will forever be his princess and that he loved you very much. He said you cannot hold anger in your heart because it will lead you down a path of darkness. Grow as a kunoichi and become strong enough to protect the village and your mother…and your unborn brother.”
Akali’s eyes widened and she looked towards her mother. Her mother’s eyes were full of sorrow but she shook her head up and down to confirm that she was pregnant. The pain that her little brother would not know his father made Akali’s heart hurt even more. Her Aunt removed her mask and pulled her niece close to her.
“Princess Akali, you must teach your brother all your father taught you. You must be there for him and help your mother raise him and show him the path of the shinobi. Can you do that for her?”
Through her sorrow, Akali agreed with her Aunt and could feel both her mother and her Aunt hold her tight at the three of them cried over the loss of the head of the household.
Not long after the loss of her father, Akali had come to terms with what she had to do. Being assigned to a new genin squad, Akali excelled on all her missions and worked hard to be a shining example of what it meant to be a big sister. Nine months passed faster then she could imagine and a few days before the Chunnin exams, her mother bore her little brother, Shen. He seemed strong like their father and he had their mother’s eyes which seemed strange for a boy. The minute Shen caught sight of his sister, he began to giggle and smile at her. The seriousness and determination she had inside of her to be the best began to mold itself into something else.
During the Chunnin exams, with her mother watching from her hospital bed, Akali figured out that the new determination she had wasn’t to the best but instead, she wanted to be the best big sister she could to Shen. Not just a strong kunoichi who would show him the path of the shinobi but one who would be there for him if he got hurt, show him how to throw a kunai, how to hit a target while running, how to talk to girls and know that they aren’t gross. With her little brother in mind, Akali launched herself into the exams and took down all her opponents to make her way to the finals. It was during the finals that she faced another shinobi from the Leaf village who pushed her to her limits. This shinobi attempted to play dirty but with the last of her strength, Akali knocked him out and won her title as Chunnin.
After a stay in the hospital to recover from her injuries, she was approached by the ANBU black ops. At the recommendation of one of their top operatives, she was given a recommendation to join their ranks. Akali felt honored to get the opportunity to join the ANBU and quickly accepted the trail period that the ANBU had placed her in. Not reveling any secrets to her, Akali was taken on missions for the ANBU and put to the test during many different situations which could have claimed her life. Each time, Akali was able to assess the situation and find a way out of it. Though she could not compare with the legendary Nara Clan’s intellect, she found herself to be gaining top marks among all the trainees in the ANBU.
For a few years, Akali worked with the ANBU to gain both in rank and in power, all the while coming home and helping her mother to take care of baby Shen. Around his fourth birthday, Akali got a message from one of her fellow ANBU trainees that they were calling a meeting to discuss their positions within the ANBU.
Following orders, Akali left her mother and little brother during his birthday celebration and made her way to the ANBU headquarters. When she arrived, she could see her Aunt was waiting for her along with other senior ANBU members who she had been on missions in the past. Looking towards her friend, Akali saw her Aunt walk up to him with a box in her hand.
“ANBU trainee, you have been with us for some time and you have shown through your training and missions that you are ready to join the ANBU Black Ops squad. Do you accept the responsibilities that come with the protection of both the village and it’s Tsuchikage?”
Not skipping a beat, her friend agreed and was given his official ANBU mask; a bear. She saw one of other ANBU walk over to her Aunt and hand her another box. Akali knew that this was it, this was the moment that she had been working towards for the last four years.
“ANBU trainee, you have been with us for some time and you have shown through your training and missions that you are ready to join the ANBU Black Ops squad. Do you accept the responsibilities that come with the protection of both the village and it’s Tsuchikage?”
The word was at the tip of her tongue but she couldn’t bring herself to say it. She looked at her friend and then at her Aunt and the other ANBU gathered in front of her. For the last four years, they had been her closes friends and companions but if she had to be honest with herself, and with what her true goal was, she knew the answer she had to give her Aunt was..
“No. I cannot accept the weight of the responsibilities that are given to those who join the ANBU Black Ops. The last four years, I have grown so much from what you have taught me and I appreciate it all. However, there is another mission that I have been given which I must take over becoming a member of the ANBU Black Ops.”
“Are you sure trainee? We do not offer this position to just anyone and should you turn away from this, we cannot guarantee you will be offered a second chance at this.”
With a smile of her face, Akali bowed and said, “I am sure of my decision. Thank you for the opportunity.”
Akali returned home to her mother and informed her of her decision. As she finished her recounting what happened and her reasoning for doing so, her Aunt appeared behind her and simply smiled.
“You know young lady, it’s not every day that we are turned down by the person we are offering the position to. You have a lot of guts doing what you did today.” Although she sounded disappointed, Akali could tell that her Aunt was proud of the decision she made today.
“I know and I am truly greatful for the offer. However, there is someone who needs me more than the Tsuchikage. Someone who is going to the future generation of shinobi who I must not only protect but teach to be strong both mentally and physically. For him, I would turn down all the riches in the world.”
Without skipping a beat, both Akali’s mother and aunt embraced her in a huge hug and the three of them simply laughed the rest of the night.
As her little brother grew and joined the academy, Akali earned the rank of Jounin and was placed in front of a young group of her own shinobi. She trained them well, the entire time smiling and teaching her students about the importance of strength and courage. Even though her students had failed their first attempt at the Chunnin exams, each one of them was determined to show their master that the strength she bestowed into them would be returned tenfold.

“Akali-san, do we have to do this training? What’s the purpose of it?” The only male student she had and she had forced him to go flower picking. The two girls who were his companions were giggling at him as they gathered the correct flowers that Akali had shown them thirty seconds earlier. During her explanation, as she had predicted, her male student had turned away for a split second and she knew she had lost him.
“The point, my young Shiro, is that you must always pay attention to what others are saying. Why did I ask you to pick this specific plant?” the smile spread across Akali’s face.
Shiro looked upset and said, “I don’t remember. You wanted me to look like a girl?”
His two teammates laughed and Akali giggled under her own breath. “I would never do that to you Shiro. You are the manliest man I know.” To this, she bent down and kissed him on the forehead. She could see Shiro blush and she sat down next to him.
“You see Shiro-kun, this flower provides us with medicinal ingredients that help to create antidotes to poisons and other ailments we might face. It may just seem like flower picking to you but if you pay attention to all the details, this may very well save your teammates lives.” Looking towards her other two students, Akali smiled and she could see them laughing.
“Also, should you pay attention to everything I say, you may just figure out the perfect floral arrangement to give to Ruruka-chan.” To this, Shiro turned bright red and buried his face in his knees. Akali began to laugh and she embraced her student to hide him from his embarrassment.
She wished that the peace she was experiencing right now with her students could last forever.
