Name of Clan: Date
Origin: Land of Iron
Current Clan Location: Iwagakure and Land of Iron

Bloodline Limit/Specialty: Steel Release - The Date clan have the ability to make their bodies indestructible by turning themselves into black steel. Additionally, by channeling chakra into steel, they are able to freely form it into anything they desire.

Bushido - The Date clan were originally samurai. They are a famous samurai clan that would produce fierce warriors that would be heard about for ages. However, with the world changing to a more shinobi world, Date Masamune decided that it was time to start looking into combining samurai and ninja fighting styles.

History: The Date clan had been around even before the beginning of the five great powers rose. Their power was often bought out by rivaling families, only getting into fights if they were paid or currently serving under a lord. The war torn land was a harsh place to live in, but they managed to survive to meet the Sage of the Six Paths.

Terumune, the founder of the Date Clan, did not agree with the Shinobi Sect the Sage of the Six Paths tried to preach about. With ninjutsu being such a powerful art, Samurai were starting to not be needed anymore. Terumune and the rest of the samurai all gathered into one country, now called the Land of Iron.

Since the samurai did not like ninjutsu, they made a pact with the shinobi powers, stating that they would not take part in shinobi affairs, as the shinobi would not take part in samurai affairs. Even though this rule was in effect, shinobi still wished to test themselves against the famous samurai.

Wanting to show that samurai were still powerful, Terumune agreed to participate in a spar with a shinobi. Terumune whipped the floor with the shinobi, completely humiliating him in front of his peers. Word got out that the samurai were still powerful and have been constantly challenged throughout the years. The samurai would usually win, making their name scatter across the land that they were still powerful warriors.

Unfortunately, Ninjutsu was getting too strong for most samurai to handle. The shinobi were starting to win a lot more often now, almost as if they were equal in strength.

The leader at the moment, Date Masamune, decided that it was time to change. Although the art of bushido was used in his family for ages, he knew that combining bushido and ninjutsu would be a force to be reckoned with. Masamune approached Mifune, telling him his plan. Mifune agreed, saying that the Date clan would breed with ninja to produce the strongest warriors ever.

Mifune contacted Mu, the second Tsuchikage, and proposed the Date contract to them. Mu, knowing how powerful the samurai were, agreed to the contract, stating that the new breed of warriors would be raised in Iwagakure. Masamune agreed, betrothing his son Munetsuna and Munekiyo to a shinobi clan with the Steel Release kekkei genkai.

Four children were born, Munetaka, Munesane, Munekatsu and Shigezane, each possessing the power to access the Steel Release Kekkei Genkai. Once their KG's had manifested, they were immediately sent back to the Land of Iron to be trained fully in the way of bushido. Once they had mastered the art of bushido, they were sent back to Iwagakure to train more in the shinobi arts.

With their fathers death, Shigezane, being the youngest out of the siblings, was sent back to the Land of Iron with his wife to start a family. The siblings decided that one of them needed to stay safe in case the other's fell.

Uchiha Madara and the Fourth Shinobi War brought about the first appearance of the new Date Family. The three sons fought through the battlefields, revealing their KG, as well as their swordsmen ship. Unfortunatly Munesane and Munekatsu lost their lives in the war.

Date Munetaka is now current leader of the Date Clan. Although he is now the clan head, he decided that he does not want to go back to the Land of Iron and settle down to have a family. Since there were only two Date clan members left, he ordered his brother, Shigezane, to stay in the Land of Iron and train his children to become the next leaders of the Date clan.

There are currently four different families in the Date clan, each having their own homes in the Date Clan district.
