Special Abilities:
Shunshin master.
Fighting Style:
As a former ANBU, Gekkō Shinjirō is quite skilled in kenjutsu. Like his brother before him, he's trained hard to be good at what he does. He actually doesn't like confrontation, and seeks for the quickest way to get a battle over with. Normally, he likes to observe his opponents fighting style from a safe, well-hidden place in order to form a battle-plan. He is adept at quick-thinking however, and many of his colleagues have remarked that he's "as sly as a fox."
Weaknesses: Since he's former ANBU, Shinjirō has been trained in basic genjutsu techniques, and while proficient, he doesn't rely on them, and is by no means an expert. He has some training on what to look for, and how to escape such techniques, but it's definitely his weakest skill. If found without his swords, Shinjirō's skill at unarmed combat is remarkably average for a shinobi of his level. He's able to hold his own against a chuunin, but quickly looses ground against a specialist. [/ul]
Appearance:
Gekkō Shinjirō is a vibrant, seasoned shinobi in his mid thirties. He measures in at just under six feet in height, and weights 165lbs. In his younger years, he had a rather shaggy head of hair, which hang down over his eyes. At that age, even a forehead protector couldn't tame those locks. Since then though, he's trimmed his hair shorter, but it still maintains earthy brown-black color. His eyes, by way of contrast, are a striking golden-brown hue, darkening closer to the iris — many say he's bears the eyes of a fox. As an ANBU, he found little necessity in constantly shaving, so around Konoha he'd usually been seen with a whiskered-beard. Since being assigned a teaching position, he's decided to "clean up his image" and has taken to sporting a small goatee with an otherwise clean-shaven face.
Shinjiro wears a long-sleeved gray-brown shirt with a stiff upright collar. The neck of shirt extended a handbreadth past the collar-bone. He wears standard pants which share the same color as his shirt. Unseen underneath the shirt is typical woven kevlar mesh (which looks suspiciously like "fishnet").
As a jounin-sensei, he's proud to wear the Konoha flak, but outfitted it with custom modifications. Primarily, he's designed a custom sword-strap that's riveted to the back of the jacket, so that it allows open access to the jacket's front side — a design inspired by the flak jacket he wore during his time in ANBU. Additionally, on the outside of the jacket's right collar (from his perspective), he's had a miniaturized metal plate attached which is engraved with the Konoha's leaf pattern in the center. When looking at the small plate, two other engravings can be seen on each side of the Konoha symbol. The left engraving bears the birth and death dates of his brother, as well as Hayate's name. The right engraving simply reads "Never Forget."
"The fox is a medium-sized fox, with a head and body length of 45 to 65 centimetres (18 to 26 in), and a tail 19 to 35 centimetres (7.5 to 14 in) long. Adults weigh from 1.6 to 3.2 kilograms (3.5 to 7.1 lb). It has grey to yellowish fur over much of the body, with paler underparts and pale markings on the mouth, chin, and throat. During the winter, the coat becomes much thicker and more silky in texture, and is straw-grey in colour, with a darker line running down the back.
It has hooked claws and can climb trees. It is reported to have keen eyesight and hearing and an acute sense of smell." (Wikipedia)
Personality:
When he was young, Shinjirō was a quiet, sad boy that kept to himself. After Naruto saved Konoha from Pain, his demeanor changed slightly, but his creepy stillness didn't. After graduating though, he cracked out of his shell, and over the years, grew into quite the gregarious goofball. While in the village, Shinjiō is a high-spirited shinobi that likes to pull fun (but harmless!) pranks. He's very energetic, and sometimes quite obnoxious. He's always smiling (usually rather lopsidedly too) as if he's laughing at his own secret joke.
On missions though, his demeanor completely changes. He becomes quiet and intense. His tone and attitude are serious and solemn. He knows when to have fun – and when to be serious. "War," he says, "is no laughing matter." When on a mission, one glance into his eyes shows an intensity unlike no other — He's always thinking and strategizing as well.
History:
As a child, Shinjirō was a somber kid. Born as the younger brother to Gekkō Hayate, he was in awe of how awesome his brother was — at least, according the the stories he remembers. In fact, the main motivation and drive to join the ninja academy at his age was the stories told to him of his brother. When Shinjirō was two, war came to Konoha. Hayate, a Tokubetsu Jōnin, served as proctor during the final rounds of the Chuunin Exams. Sadly, when Hayate learned of Sunagakure and Otogakure's plans to invade Konoha, he was killed for it. Though he cannot remember this himself, his family recalls that Shinjirō was grief-stricken. Gone was the cheerful bright-eyed boy they knew, as he'd been replaced by a solemn quiet child. They say that he had entered a into deep depression, and took on a similar appearance as his brother. His family rationalized that war changed his life, and likely wanted no part of it.
As tragic as it was, the two invasions into Konoha marked pivotal events in Shinjirō's life. The first ruined his life by taking his brother from him, and the second – ironically – rebuilt it. Near the end of his third year, Konoha was yet again invaded, this time by a man called Pain. Unlike Orochimaru's attempt, this one was "successful" in so far as much as the whole of Konoha was destroyed. If it hadn't been for the interventions of one brave teen, Konoha's savior, all of Konoha would have been lost. Witnessing the bravery and tenacity of this one individual — no, everyone involved, Shinjirō quickly realized how unwittingly selfish he had been. He had spent the last three years subconciously mourning the loss of his brother, and on that fateful day, realized how much of a hero his brother Hayate truly was.
After the Fourth Great Ninja War, once Konoha had been rebuilt, he begged his brother's fiance — Yugao Uzuki — to be enrolled into Konoha's Ninja Academy. She enrolled for him in the fall, which started just after his sixth birthday. Even though his heart was fully commited, his performance was lackluster. At the end of his third year, his teacher told him that if it wasn't for Uzuki's watchful eye, he might have very well been expelled due to his sub-par performance. Truth be told, Uzuki had spent so much time caring for him during his first years that Shinjirō began to see her as a sister.
Throughout the summer, he worked vigorously with Uzuki to make up for time lost. Shinjirō devoted himself fully to his studies. What he lacked in skill, he made up for in determination and willpower. When school started again, he was still behind, but because of his renewed sense of motivation, he eventually finished the year in the Top 5 of his class, as opposed to his normal ranking of dead last. Due to his overwhelming desire to prove himself, the young Gekkō kept mostly to himself, and didn't react or talk to anyone. He found that he didn't have much time for recreation, and because of this he remained a creepy silent kid throughout his entire Academy years.
Immediately after graduating, Shinjirō was placed on a genin team. It was here that he eventually broke out of his shell. He can still recall the first day meeting his team. One of the kids was visibly upset that he was placed on the same team as this "creepy loser" and made an off-handed comment about how Shinjirō gave him a "sinking feeling" in the pit of his stomach "as if he was stuck in an black hole with no means of escape." Shinjirō grinned wickedly at this, but didn't say anything. Instead, he shocked his teammates by slowly sinking into the ground. Understandably, this only reinforced his creepy image, but was the first of many "tricks" that Shinjirō would pull on his team. By the time the team was ceremoniously promoted to Chuunin two years later, the quiet sulky boy was truly a thing of the past, and in his place was a lanky, fun-loving and affable teen.
At sixteen, Shinjirō was promoted to the rank of Tokubetsu Jōnin like his brother before him. This was likely because of his remarkable skill with his twin kodachi. He truly was living up to his brother's legacy. Although ANBU had always kept an eye on him — due in no small part to his adopted sister Uzuki, it was at this point that the ANBU leadership truly began to take a notice in Shinjirō. For the next six months, he was watched very carefully, and at the end of it, he was inducted into the ANBU Corps — which came as a complete surprise to the younger Gekkō. Because of his shocking golden eyes and ability to "burrow" he received the codename Tenko.
During those six months, the teen trained tirelessly, day after day. His swordsmanship was top notch, and although he didn't neglect his kenjutsu training, he placed more emphasis on sharpening his ninjutsu skills to become a more rounded shinobi. On one fateful day, he was training the Body Flicker Technique in a remote training ground, pushing himself to go faster and faster. Recklessly pushing his abilities to their limits, at some point — Shinjirō himself isn't really clear on the particulars — something within him broke and a rush of energy and power surged through him like nothing he'd known before. The end result was that he "flickered" several hundred feet — a distance far greater than that he'd done before — with so much speed and power that he lost control, and tumbled and rolled a few dozen feet before coming to a complete stop with a resounding THUD into a very large tree.
Knocked unconscious, Shinjirō awoke hours later and was astonished at the destruction he'd caused. Looking back, he saw all sorts of forest flora broken or uprooted. The worst part was actually the tree. He'd hit it with enough force that somehow it had toppled over. Unfortunately, this destroyed the habitat of a family of foxes, and only one small infantile fox cub was left alive. Stricken with grief, he rushed the fox kit to the Inuzuka clan veterinary practice as fast as he was able. Seeing as the fox was literally an orphan, and had no family to return to, the Inuzuka family cared for it for a few weeks, after which they let Shinjirō foster it. Kitsuchi, as the fox is now known, grew attached to him, and follows him around constantly when Shinjirō is not out of the village.
While serving as an ANBU Operative, Shinjirō was placed under the tutelage and watchful eye of Anaguma, who as it turned out, was also an Earth-style shinobi. It was under his expert tutelage that the young Gekkō was finally able to expand his ninjutsu repertoire. After numerous covert missions with Anaguma and his team, Tenko evolved into a master of espionage and assassination. His prowess was so fierce that he eventually was given the moniker "the Ghost Fox of the Leaf." While under the instruction of Anaguma-taichou, Tenko was able to narrow his focus and concentrate on ninjutsu techniques that fit his style. Eventually, the "Badger" and the "Fox" developed such a tight bond that his mentor revealed his true identity. Outside of the office of the Hokage, Tenko is likely the only person to know Anaguma's secret.
On his 18th birthday, Shinjirō had shown such a range of growth from his previous self, he was again honored with another promotion, this time to full Jōnin. Though promoted, he was still an ANBU Operative, and served in this capacity for the next eighteen years. During this time, the Five Great Shinobi Nations maintained their alliance, his duties in ANBU were peaceful and relatively simple. It was only recently that Shinjirō was taken out of ANBU and assigned a genin team.

A lone masked figure watched the entire encounter from the rooftop of a nearby building. While anyone who might notice him would place him as one of Konoha's ANBU Force, The characteristic mask he wore identified him as the operative known (to those that knew him) only as Tenko -- very few knew his true identity, that of Gekkō Shinjirō, younger brother to Gekkō Hayate.
As an ANBU operative, he was required to monitor high ranking shinobi. Today, he had the pleasure of being assigned as Haruno-sama's unseen guardian. Usually, he watched in uninterested silence, but there was something about this kid..
What an interesting kid. To think he could master the tree-climbing training after just one failed attempt. At first, judging by the arc on the shuriken he threw, I wouldn't have expected him to do so well. Hell, I can remember my first time practicing. I wasn't this good. I still shudder remembering the ordeals that Sensei put me through--
Tenko hazarded a glance at the sun. It had happened again. He'd gotten wrapped up in thought, and let the time slip past him. Sakura-san had duties to attend to and because of this kid's carelessness, she'd likely be late. With a thought, Tenko dematerialized with a puff of smoke, and when he next appeared he was "standing" upside-down on the very same tree branch.
To Sakura, he spoke in a calm, even voice. "Sakura-san, isn't it about that time?".
He then turned slightly, as if noticing the state of the swing for the first time. "EHHHHHH?!" exclaimed, Tenko in an exagerated voice, feigning surprise, casting furtive glances, as if in search of a villian, "What happened to the swing? Who did it? Was it our enemies? Where are they, I'll -- AAAHAHAHEHEHEEHEHE." Tenko's speech was interrupted when a small fox started licking his exposed toes. "Kitsuchi stop it! That tickles -- HAHAHA -- I mean it Kitsuchi, you irascible mutt. Stop licking my toes, or I'll fa--AAH--AAAAHHH"
*THUD* The ground echoed as Tenko's body crashed down.
As an ANBU operative, there's no way he could have been distracted from channeling his chakra by such a thing, but Tenko saw how upset this kid had been earlier, and wanted him cheer him up; He can't stand to see the look of sadness on a child.
Tenko sat up, rubbing the back of his head. "Eh. Hehehehe," he laughed meekly, then straightened his ANBU mask.

The right engraving simply reads "Never Forget."
While in ANBU, Shinjirō — codenamed Tenko — wore the typical uniform, with the only identifying characteristic being his mask. The mask is stylized after a fox, which is fitting considering Shinjirō's codename is Tenko ("Fox Spirit"). The mask has a triangular black stripe starting near the tip of the nose, widening as it reaches the crown. Flanking the black stripe on each side is a set of brown triangular stripes, with the larger one on the inside. Each stripe curves away from the center. On his cheeks are another set of triangular stripes, also black. This time, the larger stripe is underneath, and they appear to be a stylized whisker. Like all men in ANBU, Tenko bears the signature spiral tattoo on his left shoulder.
Shinjiro keeps a pet fox with him most of the time, named Kitsuchi. He rescued the fox as an infantile and orpaned cub, which was due to a mishap caused by his own negligence.
